Job Description

Sr. Product Manager - Tech, Just Walk Out Technology

Job ID: 2962581 | Amazon.com Services LLC

Are you interested in re-inventing the physical store Merchant Experience? The Just Walk Out (JWO) enables shopping in retail stores with no lines and no checkout. You simply use a credit card to enter the store, take what you want from our selection of fresh, delicious meals and grocery essentials, and leave the store. This checkout-free shopping experience is made possible by the Just Walk Out (JWO) Technology, which automatically detects whether products are taken or returned, and enables shoppers to grab and go from stores ranging from small airport kiosks to massive university stores.

The Senior Product Manager will own the end-to-end JWO core tech components and the merchant technology experience. You will be responsible for working with software, design, operations, and other teams to expand the magic of JWO technology to a wide array of new selection offered in Amazon's physical stores. You will need to be equally at home understanding and championing the needs of your customers as you are with diving deep on the technology and operational implications of the products you build. You must have a strong track record of successfully launching products.

As a tenured Product Manager, you are familiar with the product development lifecycle. You exhibit high proficiency and efficacy in core product management disciplines such as defining user stories, priorities, success metrics, presenting vision that works backwards from customers, and are comfortable driving clarity across multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment. A successful candidate will combine an ability to Think Big with keen attention to detail. We are looking for a passionate, data-driven decision maker who likes building from scratch, experimenting, and setting high standards. You have a high degree of ownership, and are an excellent written and verbal communicator, who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Define and evangelize the long-term vision for the merchant platform, developing strategic roadmaps that align with Just Walk Out's broader business strategy and market opportunities.
  2. Own and drive the merchant application platform strategy across web and BYOD environments, including platform architecture decisions that enable scalability, extensibility, and future innovation.
  3. Lead development and governance of data emission APIs and integration capabilities, ensuring merchants receive timely, accurate order, sales and inventory data while maintaining platform stability.
  4. Define and execute platform adoption strategy, including merchant onboarding processes, system integration patterns, and cross-store data sharing capabilities to enable multi-location retailers.
  5. Drive authentication and security strategy, including federated login systems, account management, and compliance standards in partnership with security teams.
  6. Partner with engineering leadership to deliver scalable, reliable platform services while making technical decisions that balance merchant needs, engineering constraints, and business goals.
  7. Build and maintain relationships with key merchant stakeholders and cross-functional teams to understand requirements, gather feedback, and ensure platform capabilities meet current and future needs.
  8. Define and track key platform metrics including adoption, usage, and merchant satisfaction to drive continuous improvement and inform product decisions.
  9. Develop platform monetization strategy and work with business teams to define pricing models that drive revenue growth while maintaining merchant satisfaction.
