Position Overview We seek a visionary, adaptable, and results-oriented Principal IT Architect for our US Electric Domain within our Architecture team. This position can be located in Brooklyn, NY; Waltham, MA; Hicksville, NY; or Syracuse, NY. Candidates from Connecticut, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, or Maine are also encouraged to apply. Job Purpose Lead the creation of architectural work products and perform analyses to communicate technology strategies across the IT community. These include designs, blueprints, standards, and decision notices impacting our technology landscape. Key Responsibilities Ensure IT strategies align with business goals; identify capability gaps and recommend technologies. Provide technical leadership for designing complex enterprise solutions, ensuring they meet business needs and compliance requirements. Define roadmaps from current to future states, including migration plans. Lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and robust solutions. Create solution visions and conceptual architectures addressing business requirements. Develop integration patterns for efficient data delivery. Design solutions with security, scalability, and reliability from the outset. Maintain broad knowledge of business applications within the electric domain. Establish and enforce architecture principles, guidelines, and standards. Conduct architecture reviews ensuring adherence to best practices. Supervisory and Interpersonal Skills Experience architecting, designing, building, testing, operating, and maintaining complex global systems. Ability to see the big picture and short-term perspectives. Leadership experience managing diverse teams across cultures and time zones. Extensive experience leading large-scale projects and emerging architectures like APIs, IoT, Digital Transformation. Deep understanding of various business processes and functional domains. Expertise in the software development lifecycle and design patterns. Technical Expertise Design expertise including performance, security, availability, operations, and monitoring. Ability to communicate risks effectively. Knowledge of industry technologies and trends. Understanding of regulatory standards such as Sox, PCI, ITIL, RUP. Experience with architecture frameworks like TOGAF, Zachman, FEAF, DODAF, COBIT. Influencing skills and knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley and PCI policies. Mentoring and consulting skills. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience. 7+ years designing enterprise-scale systems. 7+ years of hands-on technology development/implementation. Proficiency with vendor products, software analysis, interfaces like REST, and technologies like Containers and Microservices. Experience with architectural tools and frameworks. Experience supporting Agile and digital product lifecycles. Experience with solutions involving custom and COTS applications. Utility-related technology experience (asset management, geospatial, control systems) is a plus. Additional Information If you're interested, learn more about our digital transformation and benefits. Salary Range Downstate NY: $179,000 - $210,000 Massachusetts: $167,000 - $196,000 Upstate NY: $149,000 - $175,000 Salary depends on experience and location.
