Summary

This position develops and evaluates new processes and suggests improvements in capabilities, efficiency and productivity in all areas of manufacturing, along with maintaining a standard costing system through Bill of Materials Maintenance (BOM). It also has the responsibility to identify and execute solutions for improvements in safety, quality, productivity and cost.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AND CORE COMPETENCIES

  1. Performs time and motion studies to develop and maintain standards and increase efficiencies and utilizations throughout the production group.
  2. Implements Lean Initiatives as applicable in all manufacturing areas.
  3. Maintains Bill of materials (BOM) files for all products.
  4. Analyzes work force utilization, facility layout and operational data such as production cost, process flow charts and production schedules to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
  5. Provides support to operations management.
  6. Participates in Sales, Marketing and R&D meetings to ensure new products scheduled are on time.
  7. Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency, reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, and relocation of workstations and equipment.
  8. Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  9. Maintains a positive and professional working relationship with all departments and/or current and potential vendors using a "partnership" approach. Generates effective communication, good relations and a positive service-oriented image with co-workers promoting courtesy, objectivity, and fairness.
  10. Support physical inventory counts - Year End & Cycle Counts as instructed in accordance with set procedures and planning schedules.
  11. Leads the investigation of any discrepancy to the loss of labor and/or materials.
  12. Stops any unsafe equipment.
  13. Follow established procedures and guidelines that assure compliance with Sigvaris® policies, industry standards, ISO 13485 standards, and Federal, State, and local laws.
  14. Support the Sigvaris® Quality System and Quality Policy by following work instructions and creating and maintaining records to meet all internal and external requirements.
  15. Fosters positive morale among staff, by promotion of open communication with all departments, to help create and maintain an innovative and cooperative staff relationship and environment by:
  16. Interacting with external and internal customers in a manner conducive to continued positive relationships
  17. Displaying patience, courtesy and tact; demonstrating flexibility, enthusiasm and willingness to cooperate while working with others or in place of others as necessary
  18. Demonstrates effective communication methods.
  19. Director of Engineering and/or appropriate management staff are kept informed of developments affecting their functions
  20. Responds quickly to all oral and written communications
  21. Maintains and encourages an open line of communication with both internal and external customers
  22. Checks and responds to voice mail messages in a timely manner
  23. Accurately and legibly presents written data to affected internal/external customer
  24. Assists with the implementation of Lean/Kaizen initiatives or events in the department.
  25. Follows all work instructions, creates and maintains accurate records to meet all internal and external requirements to support the SIGVARIS Quality System and Quality Policy. 

Accurately performs any other duties as assigned to ensure an efficient workflow.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 

  • Bachelor degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering with at least three years’ experience in process engineering in a manufacturing environment beyond internship, preferably in the textile industry.
  • Experience in maintaining standard product costing systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in an office and manufacturing environment (production floor). This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

  • Regularly required to sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, bend, lift or climb.
  • Occasionally required to lift light weights (less than 25 pounds). 
  • Finger dexterity and hand coordination required. 
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include: close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust or focus.

SUCCESSION PLANNING – REQUIRED CORE COMPETENCIES 

  • Highly self-motivated; able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be PC literate in Microsoft Office Suite; moderate Excel skills preferred
  • Experience in managing high SKU Raw Material Inventories.
  • Experience working with Lean Manufacturing is a must.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Team player.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven leadership abilities.
