Job Title: Head Cook
The Helen S. Dunn School seeks a 32-hour-per-week Head Cook beginning in the 2025-2026 school year.
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Valid State of Maine criminal history record check (CHRC)
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Basic computer skills
* Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods
Reports to: Food Service Manager
Job Goal: To provide students with nutritious, well-balanced meals in a safe, sanitary, and efficient manner while supervising kitchen operations to maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and fostering a positive work environment. The chosen candidate will be given training to receive certification in food safety and sanitation (e.g., ServSafe certification) and knowledge of state and federal school nutrition guidelines.
Essential Functions:
The Head Cook will plan and oversee the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals that meet state and federal nutritional guidelines, adhere to food safety protocols, sanitation standards, and district policies, engage with students to provide an inviting atmosphere, manage inventory, order food and supplies, complete required paperwork, and perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Food Service Director.
Training will be provided to the candidate for all requirements.
