The Zippy Shell / 1-800-PACK-RAT customer service team is looking for a Claims Specialist. We are focused on serving the customer in a respectful manner while reviewing and processing their claim. Responsible for coverage and damages analysis of property claims, which includes the ability to negotiate and complete settlements fairly and equitably with all parties. Physical demands

This position will require use of a personal computer and phone on an ongoing basis throughout the workday. Additionally, the position requires frequent sitting, use of hands to type on a keyboard, reaching with hands and arms, speaking, hearing, and vision abilities, and the ability to lift and carry up to 10 (ten) pounds or more.

Primary job responsibility

• Update claims reporting seen by executive team
• Take inbound calls in a supportive call center environment for current customers who have questions about their claim or our claims process
• Make outbound follow-up calls and emails to update customers on their claim
• Will routinely work closely with our team at the facilities when investigating claims
• Responsible for gathering, cataloging, and processing claims data
• Use problem solving skills to ensure customers claims are thoroughly investigated and reasonable resolutions are reached
• Scopes, approves, and adjusts estimates of damage, as well as determines loss amounts.
• Determines extent of company's liability.
• Estimates cost of repair, replacement, or compensation.
• Prepares report of findings and negotiates settlement.
• Effectively manages pending files in accordance with Claims Best Practices
• Appropriately applies knowledge of applicable state statutes, including the insurance code of ethics, rules, regulations and guidelines.
• Effectively handles all calls from customers, attorneys, public adjusters, vendors, and others

Required skills

• Ability to work in a call center environment
• Proven ability to work efficiently and provide a high level of customer care in a high-volume environment

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• PC proficiency with experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Teams, and Excel

• Desire to work in a team atmosphere
• Must possess a positive attitude
• Available to work M-F, 8-5

Education

• High school diploma required; BS/BA preferred
